Privacy Policy

Last Updated: June 1, 2026

At WordsCount, we care deeply about your privacy and the security of your content. This Privacy Policy explains our commitment to security and how we process text data across our utilities.

1. 100% Client-Side Processing

The core utility of WordsCount runs entirely inside your web browser. When you type, copy, or paste text into the character counter or SEO meta editor, **no data is sent to our servers**. All calculations, analyses, capitalization conversions, and stats collections are performed locally by client-side JavaScript. This ensures that your texts, notes, and drafts remain 100% private and confidential at all times.

2. Secure Browser-Based OCR

Our "Word Counter Picture" feature extracts text from screenshots, photos, and files using Optical Character Recognition (OCR). This feature is powered by Tesseract.js, which loads and runs directly in your browser. Just like our standard text editor, your images and extracted text files are processed completely client-side. They are never uploaded to any remote server or third-party processor.

3. Data We Do Not Collect

  • We do not collect, read, store, or monitor any text you type or paste into our editor.
  • We do not collect, read, or store any images or files you drag-and-drop or upload for OCR picture text extraction.
  • We do not require signups, usernames, accounts, passwords, or emails to use our counting features.

4. Local Storage

We use your browser's local storage (such as `localStorage`) for the sole purpose of retaining user choices, such as your selected visual theme (Light Mode or Dark Mode) to avoid layouts flashing during page loads. We do not store any personal identification details in local storage.

5. Third-Party Web Hosting and Analytics

Our website is hosted on modern cloud environments (like Vercel). They may collect standard anonymous access logs (such as IP address, browser type, and page access timestamps) purely for service availability monitoring, performance tuning, and DDoS mitigation. We do not use third-party tracking pixels or behavioral advertising networks.

6. Changes to this Policy

We reserve the right to modify this Privacy Policy at any time. Any changes will be updated on this page with an adjusted date stamp. Continued use of our site signifies your acceptance of our privacy-first commitment.
